Visit the Pyramids, Marrakech and Fez, see the Great Sphinx of Giza and the Valley of the Kings, go on a Nile River cruise and more.

From the tip of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco to the tombs of the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, North Africa is a region of the continent like no other. See its wonders on one of our Insight Vacations North Africa guided tours – there's a fresh cup of hot mint tea waiting for you, and so much more.

When it comes to historical icons, you're never short of options. Climb inside the Great Pyramid in Giza, a once-in-a-lifetime experience accomplished only after visiting Tutankhamun’s tomb, and wandering the Temple of Isis at Philae Island. Similar iconic experiences await you in the best places to visit in Morocco, including shopping the souks of Marrakesh and walking through Ouarzazate, where countless movies including Star Wars were filmed.

Our North Africa tours are so spectacular you could almost forget to stop and eat, but we wouldn't let that happen. From dining at the famous Rick’s Cafe to high tea at the Old Cataract Hotel, we’ve got you covered with premium dining experiences so you'll be fuelled and ready to explore the countless amazing North Africa attractions and museums.

What to Eat in North Africa

Premium Dining on Every Tour

North African food is as colourful as it is flavourful. Couscous is a versatile side-kick that pairs well with everything, from stuffed pigeon and rich shakshouka to a whole roasted lamb mechoui and zesty kofta.

Put tagine atop your must-try list in North Africa. Cooked in its namesake pot, this stew has slow-cooked meats like chicken slow-cooked with vegetables, cumin, turmeric, and more.

Harira will vary depending on where it’s served — chickpeas, fava beans, and/or lentils—but this tomato soup made with lamb broth and toasted spices is delicious either way.

Hot mint tea sounds like the last thing you’d want to sip in the desert. A surprisingly refreshing cup of Berber tea shared with locals is a moment you’ll savour.

Did You Know?

Most North African camels are domesticated.

Riding a camel through the Sahara is a North African experience most visitors crave, but rarely will a tour group ever stumble upon a camel in the wild. Dromedary camels, the species known as an Arabian camel that’s found in Africa and Asia, are nearly all domesticated in this region. Berbers domesticated camels 3,000 years ago and relied on this husbandry to provide food, milk, and transportation as they navigated the desert sands.
