DISCOVER OUR SPAIN & PORTUGAL TOURS AND TRAVEL GUIDE

Spain and Portugal may share a border, but they very greatly in terms of history, culture, and cuisine. Our Spain and Portugal guided tours take you from Pamplona in the Pyrenees Mountains to the Atlantic shoreline of Sintra to show you how each country evolved in different directions.

You’ll taste the difference, too, when stopping for Pasteis de Belem tastings in Lisbon, sampling local produce in Gijón, sipping sparkling wine in Barcelona, and dining on hallmark Spanish dishes in Madrid. Meet with master artisans in Toledo, art historians at the Prado Museum, and with local experts on our engaging Spain and Portugal itinerary.

What to Eat in Spain & Portugal

Deliciously Authentic Dining on every tour

Like their languages, Spain and Portugal food menus will look distinctly different, as Spain has more of a Mediterranean diet and Portugal is more oceanic. Spain and Portugal cuisine hallmarks, however, both include seafood, cured meats, tomatoes, onions, and eggs.

Pork sausage is one common meat Spain and Portugal cuisine share. You’ll see the Spanish chorizo or Portuguese chourico prepared with varying levels of spices across the Iberian Peninsula.

Both cultures embrace seafood and rice. Many people are familiar with the Spanish paella dish, but Portugal also has a variation called arroz de marisco, which is soupier.

Portuguese pastel de natas are popular custard egg tart pastries; Spain also has custard-based snacks called crema catalanas with caramelized sugar tops similar to a crème brûlée.
