What to Eat in Central Europe

Premium Dining on Every Tour

Central Europe food is hearty without apology. Countries like Germany and Austria don't skimp on the sausage. While Polish, Czech, and Hungarian stews, dumplings, and pork knuckles will fill you up fast.

The Polish pierogi is the country’s culinary ambassador. These dumplings are filled with mashed potatoes, cheese, and more, then boiled and served with gravies, mustards, or other savoury sauces.

Goulash is made with a different mix of stewed meats and vegetables, but the traditional bowl will always include paprika. Though originating in Hungary, this dish is quite popular in Prague.

You won't want to skip breakfast in Bavaria when weisswurst is on the menu. This thick white sausage is traditionally eaten by cutting the meat out of the casing.
